Gift Cards & Store Credit
What are gift cards?
Section titled “What are gift cards?”Gift cards are pre-loaded store credit that buyers can use at checkout instead of (or in addition to) a credit card. Your team issues and manages gift cards through the admin panel.
Common uses:
- Merchandise giveaways and contest prizes
- Corporate gifting programs
- Refund alternatives (store credit instead of cash refund)
- Season ticket holder appreciation
Creating a gift card
Section titled “Creating a gift card”Path: Admin > Gift Cards > New Gift Card
- Click New Gift Card.
- Enter the Initial Balance (e.g., $50.00).
- Optionally assign it to a contact by entering their email address.
- Click Create.
Stadli generates a unique gift card code. Share this code with the recipient — they enter it at checkout like a promo code.
Adjusting a gift card balance
Section titled “Adjusting a gift card balance”Path: Admin > Gift Cards > [Gift Card]
- Add funds: Click Add Balance, enter the amount, and confirm.
- Remove funds: Click Reduce Balance, enter the amount, and confirm. The balance cannot go below $0.
Use this to top up a card, correct an error, or partially revoke value without revoking the card entirely.
Revoking a gift card
Section titled “Revoking a gift card”Path: Admin > Gift Cards > [Gift Card] > Revoke
Revoking a gift card immediately invalidates it. Any remaining balance is forfeited. This action cannot be undone.
Use revoke when a gift card was issued in error, used fraudulently, or the recipient relationship has ended.
Viewing gift card activity
Section titled “Viewing gift card activity”The gift card list shows each card’s:
- Current balance
- Original balance
- Status (active / revoked)
- Linked contact (if assigned)
The Gift Cards report (Admin > Reports) shows redemption history and balance changes over time.
How buyers use gift cards
Section titled “How buyers use gift cards”At checkout, buyers enter the gift card code in the Gift Card or Promo Code field. The available balance is applied to the order total. If the order total exceeds the gift card balance, the buyer pays the remainder by credit card.
What could go wrong
Section titled “What could go wrong”“Buyer says their gift card doesn’t work” — Verify the card is active (not revoked) and has sufficient balance. Check that they are entering the code correctly.
“I want to issue a gift card instead of a refund” — Create a new gift card with the refund amount as the initial balance. Cancel the original order. The buyer can use the gift card on their next purchase.
